In the first in a series of updates, Parslows residential property team will follow Sue & Dave, newlyweds, as they embark on their journey to purchase their first home in Jersey.
“We are trying to find a property in St John if at all possible. Both of our families are from the parish and we would love it if our children (when we have them) went to St John’s school. The problem we have is affordability. Property is expensive and while we both have pretty decent paid jobs raising the deposit and getting a mortgage is proving to be an issue. The thing is though we really don’t want to continue renting but at the moment we don’t feel we will ever get on the property ladder.”
Sue & Dave popped into the office as they wanted to understand the property buying process. Mel Guest and her team as usual were more than happy to run through the process.
“We cannot thank Mel enough. She put us at ease as we had heard the process was a very long, really stressful affair. She took us through the whole thing, explained what the conveyancers do, the associated costs and the process in Court. We were really impressed especially as Parslows have technology that would mean that we could check up on the progress of our property purchase, when we eventually find somewhere to buy”.
As we leave Sue & Dave, Sue mentions that she has arranged with a couple of estate agents to view some properties, one in St Helier and one in St John. Not only that but she has arranged to speak to a mortgage broker. They will definitely have a busy couple of weeks.
