Why should I use a Jersey lawyer for my Jersey Will?

Jersey law and procedure relating to Wills can be complicated. It is therefore advisable to contact a Jersey lawyer to prepare and properly advise on the Jersey Will.

Why make a Will?

If you do not make a Jersey Will your estate will fall into intestacy and may not go to whom you wished to leave it to.

What points should I consider when making a Jersey Will?

You should be aware that we have forced heirship rules called legitime, which may have an effect on your movable estate.  Real estate does not have legitime rules, but your property may be subject to rights of dower.

How much does it cost to make a Jersey Will?

Why should I use a Jersey lawyer to draft my Jersey Will?

Jersey law and procedure  relating to Wills is not straightforward. Non Jersey lawyers may not be familiar with Jersey process running a risk that the Will in due course is deemed invalid.

Why make a Jersey Will and not just rely on my Will in my own domicile?

If you do not make a Jersey Will your executor will probably have to go through the probate procedure in your jurisdiction first before making application here in Jersey.

What points should I consider when making a Jersey Will?

There may be issues relating to the determination of taxes that are payable on your world-wide estate. You should always consult a lawyer in your own country before you make a Jersey Will.
