Divorce

The decision to divorce is something that should be carefully considered. Our divorce lawyers understand that your decision is going to be influenced by difficult emotions and we understand that you need as little extra stress as possible. That’s why we are dedicated to working swiftly and efficiently, taking as much of the worry off your shoulders as we can.

Civil partnership dissolution

Although dissolution is a similar legal process to divorce, the facts (or grounds) for dissolution differ and the practical solutions available to you as a couple can be more complex. The decision is something that should be carefully considered.

Separation agreements

For a variety of reasons, you may not want to take the step of getting divorced or dissolving your civil partnership when you separate from your spouse. Despite this, it’s important to consider entering into a separation agreement.

Finance and property

When getting divorced or dissolving your civil partnership, any assets that you have (including your family home, savings, policies or an interest in a business) will be divided between you.

Dividing assets isn’t an easy process and there isn’t a set formula. Our lawyers can help advise you on a fair division of property, assets, and finances. We’re here to assist you in finding an acceptable compromise or if necessary fight your corner in the family court.

Children Issues

As one of the most stressful and emotionally taxing areas of separation, agreements on custody and care of children are difficult to negotiate at the best of times. We aim to give you the best legal advice in an uncomplicated and understanding manner.

Fixed fee – Petitioner’s uncontested divorce / Civil Dissolution package
Peace of mind right from the start. This service covers the work to sort out your divorce to the stage. The price covers your divorce petition and related documentation for uncontested divorces.

It does not cover contested divorces or resolving issues around finances or children. If your divorce is straightforward and uncontested, our fixed fee package is a great option.

What is included in Parslow’s fixed fee Petitioner’s uncontested divorce package?

  • Preparation of the divorce petition drafting,
  • Filing the legal documents for an uncontested divorce to decree nisi stage,
  • Dealing with the Family Division of the Royal Court, and
  • Dealing with your spouse’s Advocate as necessary.

What is not included in Parslow’s fixed fee Petitioner’s uncontested divorce package?

  • Dealing with your divorce if it becomes contested,
  • Issues relating to overseas elements of the divorce,
  • Changes  to your divorce application after it has been issued by the Royal Court,
  • Resolution of financial matters ancillary to the divorce,
  • Proceedings or correspondence relating to children,
  • Personally serving any documents on your husband/wife,
  • Tracing your spouse,
  • Extra applications made to the court,
  • Court fees costs and or disbursements,
  • The fee for issuing the divorce application, and
  • The fee for applying for decree absolute.

There are terms and conditions to all our fixed fee packages. Make sure you read and understand those before proceeding.

Fixed fee – Respondent’s uncontested divorce package
If you have a divorce petition issued against you, Parslows offer a fixed fee divorce / civil dissolution service to cover your response and related documentation.

If the divorce is contested, or has complications such as financial matters or children, these are not included.

What is included in Parslow’s fixed fee Respondent’s uncontested divorce package?

  • Advising you about your options in relation to the divorce documentation.
  • Dealing with the Family Division of the Royal Court.
  • Dealing with your spouse’s Advocate as necessary.

What is not included in Parslow’s fixed fee Respondent’s divorce package?

  • Dealing with your divorce if it becomes contested.
  • Issues relating to overseas elements of the divorce.
  • Changes to your divorce application after it has been issued by the Royal Court,
  • Resolving financial matters ancillary to the divorce.
  • Proceedings or correspondence relating to children.
  • Personally serving any documents on your husband/wife.
  • Tracing your spouse.
  • Extra applications made to the court during the court process.
  • Court fees costs and or disbursements.
  • The fee for issuing the divorce application.
  • The fee for applying for decree absolute.
  • Advising a co-respondent named in the divorce petition.

Parslows’ fees for more complicated areas relating to divorce or civil dissolution.

As well as the straightforward divorce/ dissolution packages described above, we can also offer budgeted options for dealing with financial and property matters, or issues regarding children. The amount you pay in legal fees can be reduced by taking advice early on.

An initial consultation with us will help you decide whether you want to instruct us further, and how ‘hands-on’ you want us to be. Once we have agreed this, we will be able to give you a staged budget for the work.

As with all our fee schemes you will be able to budget in advance as to what your legal costs are going to be. .
