Jersey Motoring Offences

We provide professional legal advice, information and representation for a range of Jersey motoring offences including careless driving, dangerous driving, speeding, speeding disqualification and drink driving (DIC). The law in this area can be complex and successful prosecution can result in the loss of your licence, increased insurance premiums, fines, and a prison sentence.

Drink or Drug Driving (DIC)

Being charged with Jersey Drink driving (DIC) can result in the loss of your licence, increased insurance premiums, fines, and possibly a prison sentence.  We appreciate the impact a charge of this nature can have on you and your family and the consequences a driving ban can have on you.   If you have been accused of drink driving it is important you seek one of our lawyers advice at the earliest opportunity as this can have a bearing on the outcome of your case.

Dangerous Driving

Dangerous driving in Jersey is a serious motoring offence, if you have been charged with dangerous driving you should seek the help and advice of an experienced expert Advocate at the earliest opportunity, if possible before being questioned by the States of Jersey police. A charge of dangerous driving can be brought against a driver for a variety of reasons; including but not limited to: driving at high speeds, aggressive driving, overtaking where it is illegal to do so, ignoring road signs or traffic markings or driving a vehicle which is not road worthy.

Mobile Phone Offences

In Jersey if any person who is driving a vehicle on a road holds a telephone in anyway while the vehicle is in motion, that person shall be guilty of an offence.  In more serious cases where the use of a mobile phone has resulted in a clear danger a charge of dangerous driving may be brought and that could result in a custodial sentence.  If you require specialist advice on your options having been accused of using a phone while in your vehicle contact our motoring offence Advocates today

Other Motoring Offences

Some Jersey motoring offence may be minor; other offences such as careless driving,  failing to notify the police of an accident or falire to provide a specimen can have far more serious consequences. If you have been involved in an incident and or have been contacted by the States of Jersey police we can advise you on your options and or the best course of action to take.  If you have been summonsed to the Magistrates court our Advocates can provide you with information on the likely outcome of your case and, if necessary, defend you in the Magistrates Court (or Royal Court), especially if you face a driving ban / disqualification.
